Rules

1. No player can play for two teams within the same division.

2. All players, excluding the goalie must be a teacher, retired teacher or a B.Ed. student.

3. Any protest must be decided by the "N.S.Teachers' Hockey Tournament" committee.

4. When requested, any players must provide their identification.

5. A team with illegal players will forfeit their games.

6. Each division will have a playoff.

7. The rules of the tournament are those of gentlemen's hockey.

No slap shot. (The blade of the stick cannot go higher than the knee in the back swing). (two minute penalty)

If a player receives 3 penalties, he is out of the game (not considered a game misconduct).

No body checking.
Two minute penalties.
A high stick with contact with the puck will result in a stoppage of play.

The red line is not in play.

No icing except for the last 5 minutes.

8. No person under the age of 19 can participate in the tournament.

9. In older age divisions, the person must reach the specific age in the calendar year of the tournament.

10. There is no mercy rule.

11. A game misconduct will result in a suspension from that game plus the following game. Suspension will role over into the following year's tournament.

12(a). If a player receives a 5 minute match or major penalty and/or a gross misconduct they will receive a suspension from the current tournament and a suspension from the tournament in the following year.

12(b). If a player is suspended from the tournament twice in a five year period; they will be ineligible to participate for the following five years.

12(c). The NSTH committee reserves the right to ban any player for the life of the tournament if their offence is considered chronic or severe.

13. The NSTH committee reserves the right to suspend any team from the current or any future NSTH tournament if the team's behaviour harms the integrity of the NSTH.

14. Each player must wear full CSA approved hockey equipment.
